EUROCLIMAplus

EUROCLIMA+ is a programme financed by the European Union, aimed at supporting the implementation of the commitments of the Paris Agreement, especially the nationally determined contributions (NDCs), in 18 Latin American countries and thereby promoting environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient development for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations. EUROCLIMA+ is implemented through the synergistic work of seven international cooperation agencies: Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), French Development Agency (AFD), Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Expertise France (EF), the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), and UN Environment.

The Programme currently finances a total of 60 projects in the areas of urban mobility; forests, biodiversity and ecosystems, disaster risk reduction, resilient food production, urban water and energy efficiency, distributed in the 18 countries of Latin America. In parallel, EUROCLIMA+ is supporting more than 50 actions related to climate governance, strengthening capacities and responding to country demands in specific areas, always oriented toward the achievement of NDCs.

The new phase of the Programme will direct new resources towards the implementation of national and regional actions, based on direct dialogues with the countries participating in the Programme. A more in-depth dialogue with countries regarding NDCs, climate policies and their implementation is envisioned, in coherence with the Programme's ongoing activities.

Euroclima is the European Union's flagship programme on environmental sustainability and climate change with Latin America. It aims to reduce the impact of climate change and its effects in Latin America by promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation through resilience and investment.
