EUROCLIMA+ at European Development Days

During the Conference (Brussels-Belgium), a high-level dialogue panel will be held between European and Latin American institutions.

June 13, 2019. Brussels, Belgium. This year, the central theme of European Development Days (EDD) will be the “approach to inequalities: building a world that does not leave anyone behind”. This European Commission event will be held on June 18 and 19, 2019, and as always, it will be based in Brussels, Belgium.

This year the EUROCLIMA+ programme, in addition to having a stand, will also participate on a High Level Panel whose purpose is to promote a dialogue between European and Latin American institutions about the new role that international cooperation should play in the 2030 Agenda, since this implies broader and more complex development processes. The regional cooperation of the European Union with Latin America will be used as an example to reflect on the current cooperation structures.

The panel is structured in two parts:

  • A first dialogue where Stefano Manservisi (EuropeAid), Alicia Bárcena (ECLAC) and Mario Pezzini (OECD Development Centre) will talk about the evolving role of international cooperation as partner countries move towards higher levels of development, with a special emphasis on EU and Latin American relations and in Chapter 5 LEO 2019 - Development in Transition.
  • A second dialogue dedicated to Latin America, where representatives of the invited countries (Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay) will discuss the role of international cooperation and in particular the EU, from the perspective of the countries in transition.

In addition, the EUROsociAL+, EUROCLIMA+ and AL INVEST regional programmes will reflect on their relevance in this new scenario from their capacity for policy dialogue and putting the agenda into practice.

We leave the invitation open to those who participate in this event and can visit us at  stand #45 (EDD Village) where we will be showing the actions that are being carried out in each Latin American country that is a partner of the Programme. Our title this year will be: "Sustainable, inclusive and climate-resistant development in Latin America".
