The Technical Assistance of EUROCLIMA is elaborating a review of adaptation and mitigation measures of “no regrets” and/or with co-benefits in cooperation with ECLAC.
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) works together with the Technical Assistance to implement Component 2: Adaptation and mitigation “no-regrets” measures.
ECLAC's Objetive: Designs and provides a set of public policy measures of “no-regrets” and/or with co-benefits for adaptation and mitigation, to address the problem of climate change and to implement them in Latin America (Result 2).
The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC), through the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES), works together with IICA in the implementation of Component 3: Sustainable Agriculture, food security and climate change.
JRC's Objetive: Disseminates and deepens knowledge on Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought (DLDD) and applies bio-physical and bio-economic models for agricultural systems and policy analysis for Latin America (Result 3).
The Unit for Regional Programmes Latin American and Caribbean of the European Commission’s Directorate–General Development and Cooperation - EuropeAid is responsible for the management of the EUROCLIMA programme. The Technical Assistance supports the European Commission with the coordination and visibility of the Programme, and works together with PNUMA and ECLAC in the implementation of Components 1 (EU-Latin American policy dialogue on climate change) and 2 (Adaptation and mitigation “no-regrets” measures).
EuropeAid's Objetive: Promotes information exchange on climate change (Result 1), it contributes with the identification of adaptation and mitigation measures of “no-regrets” and/or with co-benefits, and is responsible for developing plans for the implementation of these measures through pilot cases (Result 2).
The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) works together with JRC in the implementation of Component 3: Sustinable Agriculture, food security and climate change.
IICA's Objective: Reinforces the agricultural sector’s capacity in Latin America to adapt this sector to climate change and to mitigate its effects and therefore contribute to food security in the region (Result 3).
The United Nations Programme (PNUMA), through its Regional Office for Latin America & the Caribbean (ROLAC) works together with EuropeAid and the Technical Assistance in the implementation of Component 1: EU - Latin American policy dialogue on climate change.
UNEP's Objective: Support high-level policy dialogue and promotes national climate change debate and legislation, enhances the role of civil society and raises public awareness about the topic (Result 1).
