Objectives:

Reduce the vulnerability of the Catamayo-Chira transboundary basin (Ecuador and Peru) by strengthening public institutions for governance in risk management, preparing the border civilian population and improving access to information for hazard prevention with emphasis on droughts and floods.

Beneficiaries:

Urban-rural population, rural farming communities and public officials.

Expected results

-Improve the governance of binational territories by strengthening local governments in the area of risk management, providing them with a solid institutional basis and technical-legal tools (prevention plans) that allow them to implement public policies for disaster risk reduction in facing droughts and floods.

-Strengthen vulnerable border communities by preparing them for risk reduction in facing natural events such as droughts and floods.

-Implement the Early Warning Systems for floods, with information technology to prevent floods and droughts in the Catamayo-Chira transboundary basin.
