Andean Countries: Drought and Floods

1-Regional, national and local climate services strengthened in each of the countries: Regional seasonal forecasting and hydrological forecasting groups will have strengthened their capacities to provide climate services for drought and flood risk management.

2-National systems for drought and flood risk management strengthened in each of the countries: Technicians from each of the 6 intersectoral/inter-institutional roundtables will be trained in flood and drought management. A public policy proposal per country for drought and flood management will be presented to the competent authorities.

3-Local information, early warning and drought and flood mitigation systems implemented in designated areas in each country: Early Warning Systems (EWS) at local level fully operational in each of the beneficiary countries. 300 volunteer observers will be trained and providing daily rainfall data through a mobile application in the pilot areas.

4-The gender approach will be included in activities for training, policy development and implementation of national and local drought and flood management systems in the project.
