OPENING. UITP SUMMIT SESSION
Urban mobility governance and institutions: lessons and experience from Africa and Latin America.

The Session will present and discuss experiences in Africa and Latin America drawn from SSATP, MobiliseYourCity and Euroclima projects. Potential examples from Africa are Dar-es-Salaam, Dakar, Lagos, Abidjan, Nairobi and/or Maputo will be presented. The session will also present the Latin America experience to urban transport governance and institutions, including institutional and regulatory reforms and government efforts (funding/subsidies schemes) needed to support integration and paratransit reforms and fleet renewal among other questions. A panel will discuss the progress made, draw lessons, and make recommendations of relevance for Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa.
