Global warming ‘ultimate threat multiplier’ posing serious risk to world security, says report urging governments not to see it simply as a climate issue

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced that Earth just had its warmest May 2015 on record, extending its warmest start to a calendar year in recorded history.

In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 17 as the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. The focus this year is "attainment of food security for all through sustainable food systems."

On 11 June 2015, the European Commission announced around €230 million to support the efforts towards the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean. The new projects unveiled will take into account the progress made in several parts of the region in recent years and will address the new challenges that have emerged.
