The side event focuses on challenges and priorities in climate change adaptation and mitigation in Latin America.

Following the approval of the Paris Agreement during COP21, the fifth edition of the LEDS LAC Regional Workshop was focused on the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and other commitments adopted by countries in the region, as key elements for the transformation of their development patterns.

From 21 until 23 September, two events of the EU’s climate change cooperation with Latin America took place in San José, Costa Rica: the EUROCLIMA+ Seminar, which prepared the upcoming cooperation programme between the two continents to meet the challenges of climate change and environmental sustainability; and the 4th EUROCLIMA Seminar, which analysed the results of the programme that started in 2010.

On 6 September 2016, the CAF (Development Bank of Latin America) will organize the second edition of an annual event entitled ‘II Water Dialogues Latin America and Spain: Challenges for hydric security’ in Madrid, Spain.
