In the framework of the activities carried out by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) during the first phase of EUROCLIMA, and as one of the results of the component Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought, the first complete version in Spanish, Portuguese and English of the Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought Observatory is now online, http://edo.jrc.ec.europa.eu/scado/php/index.php?id=3000. This version includes a version in development of the Map Viewer http://edo.jrc.ec.europa.eu/scado/php/index.php?id=3119. 

In both links there is a Help Menu with explanations on the functionalities of the icons of the Map Viewer.

Furthermore, in these websites a short description of the main features is available - currently the Map Viewer contains three tabs:

2. Compare dates

3. Compare Layers

a) In the Content Map it is posible to display geographical layers on drought, land degradation and desertification at regional, national and local level in Latin America..

b) Compare dates allows the visualization of an indicator on four different dates.

c) Compare Layers allows the visualization of four indicators on a single date.
