Within the framework of the activities carried out by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) during the first phase of EUROCLIMA, and as one of the results of the component Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought, the first complete version in Spanish, Portuguese and English of the Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought Observatory is now online: http://edo.jrc.ec.europa.eu/scado. It includes a version in development of a Map Viewer: http://edo.jrc.ec.europa.eu/scado/php/index.php?id=3119.
In both links, there is a Help menu with explanations on the functionalities of all the icons of the Map Viewer.
Moreover, in these webpages, a brief description of the main functionalities are given. Currently the Map Viewer has three tabs:
1. Map content
2. Compare dates
3. Compare layers
a) In the Map content, geographic layers about drought, land degradation and desertification at regional, national and local levels in Latin America can be viewed.
b) Compare dates allows viewing jointly one indicator in four different dates.
c) Compare layers allows viewing jointly four indicators for one date.
