Photographs: Workshop for agricultural producers in Peru

Producers from the regions of Huánuco, Ucayali and San Martín (Peru) were trained in identifying good practices, barriers and opportunities for small-scale agriculture that favors adaptation to climate change. The activity was part of the pilot case 'Resilience to climate change through technological conversion of family farming', that Peru is developing with the Technical Assistance of EUROCLIMA.


The workshop was attended by representatives of public and private institutions of the region immersed in the agricultural sector.

"This initiative will allow the Regional Government of San Martín to articulate efforts to conceptualize agriculture in the region in the context of climate change and the reduction of greenhouse gases that will be implemented in the ten priority value chains of cocoa, coffee, rice , Maize, palm oil, palm leaf, banana, orange, sacha inchi, cattle and pigs, "said José Reátegui, regional director of Agriculture of San Martín.

The workshop was developed within the framework of the activities of the Committee for Regional Agrarian Management, chaired by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture for San Martín.

In addition, topics related to the validation of climate changes and their impacts, identification of good practices currently implemented, limiting barriers to the adoption of new technologies, among others, were discussed.
