The second EU-CELAC / 8th EU-LAC summit will be held in Brussels on 10-11 June 2015 under the theme: "Shaping our common future: working for prosperous, cohesive and sustainable societies for our citizens". Fight against climate change will be one of the main aspects that will be discussed by the European, Latin American and Caribeean leaders during the Summit.
EU-CELAC summits bring together European, Latin American and Caribbean leaders to strengthen relations between both regions. These summits are the main fora for dialogue and cooperation between Europe, and Latin American and Caribbean states.
Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, will chair the summit in which more than 50 Heads of State or Governments are expected to attend.
Debates during the summit will focus on bi-regional and global issues. It will be the occasion to underline the importance of EU-CELAC cooperation in a complex, rapidly changing world.
The summit will also promote the shared identity and values of Europe, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
It will also be an opportunity to deepen political dialogue on citizen-oriented initiatives in terms of innovation for sustainable growth, education, security, and climate change.
