In Ecuador, the training programme continues to develop human talent as facilitators of development in risk management, mitigation, and adaptation to climate change

in the context of the Catamayo-Chira transboundary basin and the province of Loja.

Friday, August 8, 2020. Loja (Ecuador). - The EUROCLIMA+ Programme, through the binational project "Risk Management without Borders", in agreement with the National University of Loja and strategic allies, continues to develop the training programme to form human talent as development facilitators in risk management, mitigation and adaptation to climate change in the context of the Catamayo - Chira Transboundary Basin and the province of Loja, Ecuador.


The "Training Programme for Risk Management, Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change" is aimed at 45 participants: heads of the Risk Management Units of the Decentralised Autonomous Canton and Parish Governments, technicians from the Loja Provincial Government, the Loja District Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of the Environment and Water, and the Technical Secretariat of Planifica Ecuador, the National Risk and Emergency Management Service "SNGRE", professors of the National University of Loja "UNL", promoters and technicians of the projects Climate Smart Livestock "PGCI", Sustainable Land Management "PMST", the Amazon without Fire Programme "PASF" and the Risk Management without Borders Project.


The programme began on July 9, 2020 and has a total duration of 240 effective hours with 10 learning modules, which were developed under three thematic areas: General Guidelines for Risk Management and Project Approaches (introductory module), Institutional Planning for the Incorporation of Public Policies, and the Climate-Smart Livestock Approach in Ecuador. The completion date of the course is set for 11 December 2020.


The contents are provided by technical specialists from the co-executing institutions as part of the inter-institutional coordination process and teachers from the National University of Loja under the framework of the inter-institutional agreement signed between the Loja Provincial Prefecture and the academic institution.


This training process is led by the project "Risk Management without Borders", financed by the European Union and the implementing agencies of International Cooperation for Development -AECID and the French Development Agency-AFD; it has the academic endorsement of the National University of Loja and the participation of co-executing institutions.
