EUROCLIMA+ launches a training programme for developing fundable climate projects

Registration for this new virtual and in-person training programme offered by the EUROCLIMA+ Programme will be open until February 28.

Brussels, 29 January 2020. How we finance climate initiatives, and how Latin American countries advance in the development of fundable climate projects is fundamental to the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), and the meeting of the 1.5º Celsius target.

As a way to support Latin American countries in this area, the EUROCLIMA+ Programme through the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), under the framework of the Climate Governance Component, in collaboration with the INCAE Business School's Latin American Centre for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) will provide the training programme Formulation of fundable climate projects.

This programme, aimed at public sector officials who are involved in the implementation and establishment of projects associated with achieving the NDCs, seeks to contribute to the development of capacities to access climate funding and private investment to implement priorities in the NDCs of the region’s countries.

To participate, Latin American countries - through their National Focal Points - will present project ideas to be worked on during the training, which will be developed during the training modules, and presented to potential investors at the end of the course.

The methodology used requires the active participation of those who are part of the programme, and at different stages of the process they must deliver progress reports to receive feedback from the specialists.

The programme will be developed through an introductory virtual module and a face-to-face phase to be held at the Walter Kissling Gam Campus in Costa Rica, which will have the participation of attendees of various nationalities and areas of expertise, which will enrich the experience of the participants, and allow for the exchange of experiences and best practices. It is expected that at the end of the training, participants will have the necessary skills to formulate fundable climate projects, and that they will be able to replicate this knowledge at a national level with other institutions.

On Thursday, February 6, at 10:00 am (-6 GMT, Central American time) there will be a briefing, where the course will be presented, what is expected from the participants and inquiries will be addressed. To participate in this session, you must enter the following link.
