EUROCLIMA+ 2019 Regional Workshop

Following up on the agreements reached at the Buenos Aires event in October 2018, EUROCLIMA+ will hold a regional workshop in Quito from April 2 to 4, 2019.

March 27, 2019. Brussels, Belgium. With the participation of representatives from each of the 18 EUROCLIMA+ member countries together with representatives of the European Union and the Programme’s implementing agencies, a regional meeting will take place this coming April 2-4.

The purpose of the workshop, to be held in San José de Puembo, Ecuador, is to agree on the general operating framework of EUROCLIMA+ as well as the scheduling and implementation of the new actions that we expect to execute in the coming years.

Among other topics, the six established lines of action that are planned to be implemented with the new EUROCLIMA+ budget allocation will be discussed and analysed. These include:

EUROCLIMA+ is the European Union's flagship programme on climate change for Latin America, which is already implementing 41 projects in various countries of the region and it is expected that more than 55 projects will be operational by the end of the year. In addition, several dialogue roundtables have been contemplated in the member countries in order to define national actions with the support of the Programme.

EUROCLIMA+ is a programme funded by the European Union to promote environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient development in 18 Latin American countries, particularly for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations. The Programme is implemented under the synergistic work of seven agencies: Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), French Development Agency (AFD), Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Expertise France (EF), International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), and UN Environment.
