European Union and Bolivia present their Action Plan for the Sustainable Transformation

The five actions that will be jointly developed aim to contribute strategically to the achievement of national climate objectives.

La Paz, 7 March 2023. Advancing Bolivia's climate agenda has been a key issue in the partnership between the European Union and the country. In this regard, and through the EUROCLIMA programme, this partnership is deepening with the implementation of the Bolivia - EUROCLIMA Country Action Plan, a roadmap jointly defined to contribute to the fulfilment of national climate objectives. 

The Country Action Plan was presented on 3 March at a high-level event. The event was attended by the Ambassador of the European Union in Bolivia, Mr. Michael Dóczy, and the country's authorities Mr. David Guachalla, Vice-Minister of Planning and Coordination; Ms. Angelica Ponce, Executive Director of the Plurinational Authority of Mother Earth; and Mr. Edson Apaza, General Director of Monitoring and Coordination of the Ministry of Development Planning. The Ambassadors of Germany, Dr. José Shulz, and Spain, Mr. Francisco Javier Gassó, as well as Mr. Christian Tison, Cooperation Counsellor of the French Embassy, also participated.

The Bolivia EUROCLIMA Country Action Plan has been prepared after a process of dialogue and joint and participatory work between the Ministry of Planning and Development and the programme, where five priority actions have been defined, through which it seeks to address strategic issues in national climate action, in line with the objectives defined in its NDC and in the policies that the country is implementing. 

The five priority actions to be implemented between 2023 and 2024, and implemented by the programme agencies: the French Development Agency (AFD), Fundación International and Ibero-America Foundation for Administration and Public Policy (FIIAPP), the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and Expertise France.

About Euroclima 

Euroclima is a programme funded by the European Union and co-financed by the German federal government through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), as well as by the governments of France and Spain through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
