During the months of October and November, two training activities were held on this subject, offered by the INCAE Business School.
San José, Costa Rica, 15 December 2021. The Community of Practice on Public Articulation for Climate Action in Latin America (ArticuLAC) recently offered its members two training activities on negotiation and conflict resolution, developed by the Latin American Centre for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) of the INCAE Business School.
In October, the virtual seminar-workshop "The new theory of negotiation and its practice" was held for 12 hours, and at the beginning of November the virtual conference "Negotiation of conflicts in conditions of high inequality and the art of persuasion" was offered for 3 hours. Both training events were given by Dr. Julio Sergio Ramírez, Professor Emeritus of INCAE. Representatives of public and private organisations from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and the Dominican Republic participated.
These activities aim to provide members of the Community of Practice with knowledge and tools to improve their negotiation skills and apply them in both the workplace and personally. These skills are key in the negotiation and articulation processes carried out by their organisations to advance towards the achievement of the targets of the Paris Agreement, while simultaneously contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and to the development of more competitive and sustainable business activities.
Anayté Guardado, Executive Director of the Association of Renewable Energy Generators (AGER) of Guatemala, commented after the seminar-workshop "this has been a really valuable experience to relearn the negotiation style". Likewise, Javier Perla, Manager of Sustainable Businesses of Libélula, Peru, said that the course "made us think a lot and strengthened our critical capacity. Personally I feel very satisfied and it will be very useful for me".
ArticuLAC is a joint initiative of the EUROCLIMA+ Programme through the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH, the LEDS LAC Regional Platform
and the Latin American Centre for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) of the INCAE Business School.
