Photographs: EUROCLIMA+ Side event at COP22

The Regional Operations Unit for Continental Latin America and the Caribbean of the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (EuropeAid)

organised a side event at COP22 on EUROCLIMA+, the European Union's new climate change and environmental sustainability cooperation programme with Latin America. 

The event took place on Saturday 12 November 2016 at the EU Pavilion within the COP22 negotiating venue.

The event featured speeches by:

- Jean-Paul Joulia, Head of Unit DEVCO/G2, Regional Operations of Continental Latin America and the Caribbean, EuropeAid, European Commission;

- Andrea Meza, Director of Climate Change, Ministry of Environment of Costa Rica;

- María Delgado, Counsellor for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Ministry of Environment of Uruguay;

- Luis Miguel Galindo, Head of the Climate Change Unit of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC);

- Philipp Knill, Head of the Special Division for Climate Policy and Finance of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ);

- Pedro Flores Urbano, Director of the  International and Ibero-America Foundation for Administration and Public Policy (FIIAPP) y

- Mercedes Sánchez Pedrosa, Head of the Department for Cooperation with Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

More than 70 people participated, including representatives of governments, think tanks, non-governmental organisations and others.


Programme of side events in the EU Pavilion 

Euroclima is the European Union's flagship programme on environmental sustainability and climate change with Latin America. It aims to reduce the impact of climate change and its effects in Latin America by promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation through resilience and investment.
