From 23 August to 1 September 2022, World Water Week will be celebrated under the slogan "Making the invisible visible: the value of water". EUROCLIMA+,

the European Union's flagship programme on climate change in Latin America, presents its awareness-raising campaign 'The World Without Water'.

Bogotá, Colombia. 23 August 2022.  From 23 August to 1 September 2022, Water Week will be commemorated worldwide to highlight the value of this fundamental resource for carrying out daily and productive activities and guaranteeing sanitation. For this reason, EUROCLIMA+, the European Union's flagship programme on climate change in Latin America, presents the campaign 'The World Without Water', which includes a series of messages and awareness-raising actions that invite people to protect water resources and take immediate action.

This type of campaign takes on importance at a time when, for example, according to United Nations data, 3 out of 10 people lack access to drinking water services and 6 out of 10 do not have access to safely managed sanitation facilities. Precisely because of realities such as these, EUROCLIMA+ has a sector called 'Urban Water', which leverages seven projects in Latin America, and whose objective is to guarantee the integrated management of water resources, the protection of water supply basins and access to water in a safe way, in quantity and quality.

During this World Water Week, the EUROCLIMA+ programme and the projects it supports in Uruguay, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica, make an invitation to raise awareness and work determinedly to conserve the resource through their social networks, in which not only educational messages will be shared, but also the feelings of children about what a world without water would be like.

In addition, a live broadcast will highlight stories of water guardians in the communities where EU projects are being implemented; this can be seen on Thursday, 25 August at 5:00 p.m. (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru)/ 4:00 p.m. (Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador) / 7:00 p.m. (Uruguay), on Facebook on the account @EUROCLIMAplus and on Instagram, on the account of the presenter and environmental influencer Catalina Robayo@catalinarobayo.
