One of the multiple parallel sessions held throughout the event focussed on “Facilitating urban mobility investments through SUMPs. The perspective of international banks and development organisations” which has been organised by European Investment Bank JASPERS in cooperation with EUROCLIMA+. This session focused on SUMPs inspired by European guidance, including experience in Central and Eastern European countries and Latin America. Michael Engelskirchen, GIZ, EUROCLIMA+ Urban Mobility Coordinator presented an overview of the EUROCLIMA+ SUMP projects and the EUROCLIMA+/MobiliseYourCity regional Community of Practice on Urban Mobility in Latin America. Although the session has covered a wide geographic scope, the projects showed similar conditions and challenges for the implementation of SUMPs in terms of data availability, funding framework and mobility culture. The conference was an opportunity to meet experts working on sustainable urban mobility planning inside and outside Europe, figure out how to make the best use of the SUMP Guidelines 2.0 – which have been introduce at the conference to collect further feedback from European and International urban mobility professionals – in EUROCLIMA+ activities in Latin America and to make contacts for city twinning planned by the Community of Practice as part of the peer-to-peer exchange.
