Euroclima Plus, through the binational project "Risk Management without Borders", works on the implementation of vulnerability reduction measures in

communities susceptible to drought, through reforestation activities in the Piurana mountain range in Peru, and family gardens with an agro-ecological focus in the province of Loja in Ecuador.

Monday, June 08, 2020, Piura - PE/Loja - EC: In Peru, reforestation is advancing with the delivery and planting of agroforestry seedlings such as: false oak, mahogany, eucalyptus, casuarina, Colombian cedar, cypress and others, planted in definitive areas in districts such as: Montero 28,000, Jilií 28,500, Sícchez 26,000, Ayabaca 45,000 and in Suyo 3,000, which will enable achieving the goal of 150 hectares reforested in the context of the transboundary Catamayo - Chira Basin. This activity is being executed in coordination with local governments, representatives of rural communities, forests, villages, and educational institutions in compliance with State protocols for the Health Emergency due to Covid19 imposed by the Government.

In Ecuador, in the province of Loja, in the sectors of Mangahurco, Cazaderos, Jimbura, Quilanga, San Antonio de las Aradas, Fundochamba, Cariamanga and Purunuma, the GRSF project has been coordinating work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to promote the implementation of agro-ecological family gardens, benefiting a total of 282 families linked to the community Risk Management and Emergency Committees that were formed.

The technician of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Geovanny Valverde, emphasises that this coordination has been providing support and technical assistance to producers of Campesina Family Farming, an activity that will ensure healthy food for consumption and the surplus can be marketed, achieving improved economies and quality of life for families.
