Bolivia presented the first children's web series dedicated to food

Six episodes are focused on the promotion of sustainable food and the consumption of native potatoes. The EUROCLIMA+ project "Potatoes, Family and Climate” has been involved in this initiative.

10 June 2021 La Paz, Bolivia - MIGA Bolivia presented the first children's web series with puppets and real scenarios, this content creation format was picked up to promote values involving food. The first season revolves around Bolivian native potatoes as an emblematic product.

The series consists of six short episodes and an original song, telling the story of five characters, a group of boys and girls who form a rock band called the MIGAFONOS: Chilto, Muña, Asaí and Isaño and their neighbour, a wise grandmother who takes them to learn more about Bolivia's ancestral products and recipes, highlighting the value of heritage foods as a cultural heritage and giving more details about the production systems and producers in the fields.

The episodes, aimed at a young audience, were broadcast on a local Bolivian television station and can be viewed in their entirety on the MIGAFONOS YouTube channel.

The initiative was created as an original and creative concept by the Bolivian Food and Gastronomic Integration Movement (MIGA) and this season of MIGAFONOS was supported by funds from the Swiss and Swedish Cooperation through the Inclusive Markets project, with the support of the French Embassy in Bolivia, HELVETAS, the EUROCLIMA + programme through the "Potatoes, Family and Climate" project implemented by the International Potato Centre (CIP) and the Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the ICCO Bridges project funded by FIDA and the support of the state-owned company Mi Teleférico. Project Potatoes, Family and Climate 

The project "Potatoes, Family and Climate" aims to improve the adaptive capacity of farmers and public and private actors linked to Andean potato-based agri-food systems in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador; through the development, application and dissemination of best practices for climate-smart agriculture that include the conservation and use of potato biodiversity, and the articulation to differentiated markets promoting the consumption of native varieties. The project is funded by the European Union through its EUROCLIMA+ Programme, Resilient Food Production Sector, executed by GIZ and Expertise France and implemented with strategic partners in Bolivia.
