Development of Synergies between Public and Private Sectors, Policies and Indicators of Vulnerability

Montevideo, Uruguay, 1 November 2012 (IICA). The national workshop “Developing synergies between public and private sectors, policies and indicators of vulnerability and resilience, to support adaptation to climate change in the agriculture sector” was held on 24 and 25 October 2012 in the Meeting Room of the IICA Office in Uruguay.

During the two-day workshop, participants presented and reflected on climate change strategies: developments, projections, limitations, indicators of resilience, as well as ways of achieving greater effectiveness in actions related to the adaptation and resilience of production systems, especially those targeted at the country’s farmers.

While Uruguay has a positive state of affairs in terms of political, legal, institutional and resource opportunities to help solve the impacts of climate change on livestock, agriculture and natural resources, participants agreed that a more structure information process and inter-institutional coordination is needed to achieve a greater impact.
