During the roundtable "Engaging with Latin America and the Caribbean on Climate Change", Mr. Manuel Medina, Minister Counsellor and Representative of the Ministry of Environment of Mexico to Europe and to the OECD, presented "Mexico's Climate Change National Policy". The roundtable, which took place in Brussels, Belgium, on 16 and 17 october, had the objetive of advancing climate change policy dialogue among the two regions to identify concrete ways of cooperation.
Mr. Medina's presentation, given during the agenda's Theme 2 "Low-emission development strategies in the EU and in LAC", touched upon the following topics:
- State of play: Vulnerability in face of climate change in Mexico,
- State of play: Mexico's Greenhouse Gases emissions (GHG),
- State of play: Economic damage from hydrometeorological events associated with climate change,
- Mexico's vision in face of climate change,
- General Law on Climate Change (LGCC) and its objetives,
- LGCC at the three government levels,
- Indicative goals,
- Progress in the implementation of the LGCC,
- LGCC implementation,
- Climate Change National Strategy National Strategy (ENCC) and the 10-20-40 vision,
- Adaptation Strategy, and
- Mitigation Strategy.
